Should i apply a membrane?

I recently bought an iPhone 16 (black) and do y'all think it's better to apply a membrane to protect it from any scratches? I'm confused, because I've seen that when using a membrane applying a case on it is a nuisance And also heating issues. But i also don't want it to get any scratches around the frame. So what should i do? Please help 🙏🏼
